Bob Pettit, Consultant

Mr. Pettit’s 21 year Air Force career earned him extensive experience and a solid background in airborne avionics and missile systems, development and implementation of aircraft and system maintenance plans and programs, airfield and air terminal operations, work scheduling, ground support equipment, and quality control/quality assurance practices. Mr. Pettit’s follow-on career consisted of 24 years with the Federal Government, culminating in his position of Production Superintendent for Communications, Electronics and Metrology at the Marine Corps Maintenance and Logistics Center, Barstow, California. Mr. Pettit was responsible for the procurement, funding, scheduling and completion of maintenance, repair and rebuild of Marine Corps, Army, Navy, and Foreign Military Sales (FMS) radar and communications end item systems and their components. He also negotiated contracts with civilian contractors for secondary depot repair items using the Gold Disk testing method. Mr. Pettit was instrumental in the preparation of original documentation and the formation of work teams that led to the Marine Corps Logistics Base, Barstow, Maintenance Center being the first Department of Defense depot certified under ISO: 9000/2001standards.

Following his second retirement, Mr. Pettit quickly became involved in the business development phase of the service industry and has had continued success while working as a consultant and writer for multiple clients. His professional writing covers such diverse areas as military family housing, Morale, Welfare and Recreation Operations, weapons removal and abatement, quality, safety and transition plans. He possesses a BA in Elementary Education and an AA in Applied Electronics.
